Nice Going Hot Shot

We were working a fine dining room.
One evening, one of our servers was preparing flaming desserts at table side. He neglected to notice that the rum bottle was nearly empty. He was attempting to do a "showy" move; lighting the rum while moving the bottle back and forth. The fumes ignited; a flame shot across the table and set a diners tie on fire. The waiter made a quick recovery, throwing a glass of water on the diner; who actually seemed pretty amused. No one was injured and we kissed-up A LOT to the diner.
The kicker is, that the waiter left his cart, walked out and we never saw him again.
He did not pick up his tips, check, nothing.
Guess he figured he could never top that.
